A new year begins and we all have the opportunity for a fresh start. For me new horizons are opening up in the form of book signings, readings, and presenting some workshops I've never done before. But why not? Code of the King has many threads weaving through it and offer opportunities to explore them with my readers. One of the surprises is readers' interest in hieroglyphs. I gave a brief lesson in the ancient art of picture writing and how the Egyptians were more right-brained than we are, which is one of the reasons it took so long for the glyphs to be decoded.
We think differently than they did and if we can put ourselves in their shoes, and minds, we'd be able to understand some of the mysteries. As Sydney says in the book, our archeologists cannot seem to get out of the rigid time-constrained way of thinking, and so whenever they find something that's dated to 10,000 BC, they say it must be a mistake--no human lived that far back. But times are changing. Several new workshops I'll be presenting will cover that premise. Stop by if you can. Here's the schedule. See my website for complete information.
